ASHLAND, NE (August 7, 2017) – The Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum is offering a Solar Eclipse event with a science education forum, free Planetarium shows, free eclipse viewing glasses, and outdoor viewing during the solar eclipse on August 21, 2017.

Beginning at 11 a.m. the museum will conduct a briefing on eclipse phenomenon in its 200-seat theater, geared toward grades 3-12, and will simulcast NASA Television multi-hour show, Eclipse Across America: Through the Eyes of NASA, with unprecedented live video of the celestial event.

Although the Museum is not in the path of totality, guests will see a partial eclipse from the museum. Museum guests will be given free eclipse viewing glasses and are invited to visit the museum for a discovery of space in its Black Holes exhibit and a free Planetarium show offered every half hour from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

August 21, 2017 Events Include:

  • Museum opens at 9 a.m.
  • Free planetarium shows 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • NASA Television viewing from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Science presentation at 11 a.m.
  • Outdoor music entertainment during the eclipse gathering outside the museum. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket for the outdoor gathering. Guest can expect to see the following:
    • Partial eclipse begins at 11:37:54 a.m.
    • Time of greatest obscuration (99.5%)  begins at 1:03:49 p.m.
    • Approximate length of greatest obscuration: 1 minute, 24 seconds

The indoor festivities are part of general admission, and the outdoor viewing and glasses are free for all guests. General admission is $12/ adult, $11/ senior or military, $6/youth 4-12 years of age.
