Planes, Trains, & Autos
October 27 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Planes, Trains and Autos features various modes of transportation with sports cars, hotrods and muscle cars, aircraft and interactive model train displays throughout the Museum.
Large scale model trains will be set for public education and automobiles will be nestled around several Cold War aircraft heroes such as the B-36 Peacemaker, the largest production bomber ever built; the B-47 Stratojet, the first swept-wing jet-propelled bomber produced in large numbers; the B-52 Stratofortress, a high-altitude strategic bomber with intercontinental ranges; and the B-58 Hustler, the first supersonic bomber to set world speed records.
The Cold War era included the evolution of sports cars, hotrods and muscle cars. Over forty vehicles from these classes will be on display including some rare finds such as a 1967 Chevy Camaro Convertible with a special Deluxe package of gold interior and exterior, 1971 Plymouth Barracuda, 1972 Hurst Cutlass Oldsmobile Indy Pace Car and a 1997 Aston Martin.
Planes, Trains, and Autos are on display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with many of the auto owners and train conductors passing out treats from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Museum’s annual trick-or-treat event. Young guests are encouraged to come in costume, bring a bag, and trick-or-treat around the museum. Super Heroes from Midwest Heroes will entertain guests during the Museum’s trick-or treat event while Museum educators host a “create a super hero mask” booth.
Planes, Trains, and Auto’s and Super Hero Day are included in the cost of general admission; $12 per adult, $11 per senior or military, and $6 for children ages 4-12 (all rates subject to tax).
