From receptions, weddings, and holiday or cocktail parties to business meetings and luncheons, we provide accommodations for all sizes of events. We know you have a galaxy of choices, but the Strategic Air & Space Museum offers an atmosphere you can’t find anywhere else on Earth.

Rental Spaces
The ability to accommodate groups up to 3000 guests is one of the outstanding features making the Strategic Air & Space Museum unique. In the interest of fulfilling the mission of celebrating our heritage and preserving our artifacts, the museum is a showcase to numerous aircraft, exhibits, and memorabilia. Your guests are invited to tour the entire museum during their visit and as they engage in the exhibits. Facility rentals include the use of the free convenient parking area, which holds a maximum of 250 cars and 25 buses/trucks or up to 550 cars. All areas of the building are smoke-free.

AtriumThe spectacular glass atrium houses the SR-71 Blackbird and is considered the showcase of the museum. By far the most dramatic and popular area of the building, the glass Atrium consists of two levels, a balcony and lower level, and is the perfect setting for cocktails and dinner for 300 people. |

Rental Guidelines
Private Event Guidelines
One of the spectacular features of the Strategic Air & Space Museum is the breathtaking glass atrium at the entrance of the museum housing the SR-71 Blackbird. Many receptions have been held in this prestigious area seating up to 300 guests. An executive conference room, theater, and library are ideal spaces for meetings, conferences, presentations, or seminars. Larger groups of one hundred to two thousand guests can be accommodated in our exclusive hangars. In the interest of fulfilling our mission of celebrating our heritage and preserving our artifacts, the Strategic Air & Space Museum is a showcase to numerous aircraft, exhibits, and memorabilia. An affiliate with the Smithsonian Institute, the Strategic Air & Space Museum is regarded as the nation’s foremost facility of its kind as it preserves aircraft and missiles for future generations. Visitors have the opportunity to observe the restoration of warplanes as technicians prepare them for display in the Durham Restoration Gallery. Recently the museum has begun its quest to be known as a predominant center of excellence in the advancement and the understanding of science, technology, engineering and math through unique, creative and thought-provoking projects.
Rental of facility space includes admission for your guests to tour the museum during their visit as well as tables and chairs for up to 100 guests. If additional tables and chairs are needed to accommodate your guests, please contact a rental company. Staging, podiums and a sound system can be provided by SASM staff if needed at no additional fee. We honor an open-catering policy with free convenient parking for up to 550 vehicles.

Guidelines:
- Decoration items must be approved by the Event Coordinator.
- All areas of the Strategic Air & Space Museum are smoke-free.
- Votive candles and hooded flame candles are exclusively permitted.
- Items may not be hung on walls or display cases with glue or tape. Banners and streamers must be freestanding.
- The use of glitter, confetti, rice, birdseed, or other materials that can litter the floor is not allowed. Bridal bubbles must be used outside.
- Helium balloons are not allowed.
- Inappropriate or dangerous behavior during the course of an event is not permitted. Please be cautious around aircraft displays as there are sharp edges.
Additional opportunities include:
A 10% rental fee discount is available to Strategic Air and Space Museum benefactors, members, military and non-profit organizations.
Flight simulators may be rented at the rate of $300 for a 2 hour increment for evening only events.
With special permission, the Museum Store can remain open during your event.
Private museum curator-led tours can be arranged at the rate of $50 for a half-hour tour.
A fee of $150 will be included in the rental fee to provide additional security staff for events hosting more than 500 guests.
